CHAIR - ROBERT L. BOGAN, Retired.

(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1999.  Mr. Bogan formerly chaired the Association’s Community Outreach & Public Advocacy Committee.  Now retired, he was formerly the Director of Business Development at Litton Systems, Inc. A resident of Fort Washington, Maryland, Mr. Bogan holds a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California. 

 

VICE CHAIR - MARK EISENHOUR, Associate Principal, Alexandria City Public Schools.

(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2001. Mr. Eisenhour formerly served as Vice Chair of the Association’s Assessment & Strategic Planning Committee.  Mr. Eisenhour is an Associate Principal with the Alexandria City Public Schools. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Eisenhour holds a Master’s degree from Marymount University.

 

SECRETARY/TREASURER - RICHARD G. COLE, JR., Certified Public Accountant, RSM McGladrey.

(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1996. Mr. Cole formerly served as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of the Board, a position he has held since 2000.  Mr. Cole is a Certified Public Accountant with RSM McGladrey, Inc.  A resident of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Mr. Cole holds a Bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College. 

 

ASSISTANT SECRETARY/TREASURER - JULIE N. JAKOPIC, Manager, Development Services Group.

(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2002.  Ms. Jakopic formerly chaired the Association’s Assessment & Strategic Planning Committee.  Ms. Jakopic is a manager at the Development Services Group. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Jakopic holds a Master’s degree from the University of Maryland.

 

PRESIDENT - J. GLENN HOPKINS, Chief Executive Officer, Hopkins House.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2000. He is a former member of the Alexandria Early Childhood Commission and the Alexandria Economic Opportunity Commission.  He also chaired the Alexandria City Public School’s Task Force on Alternative Education. A resident of Fairfax, Virginia, Mr. Hopkins holds a Master's degree from Columbia University in the City of New York.  Mr. Hopkins is a Life Member of the Association.

TRUSTEE - KEVIN BERGEN, Retired.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007.  Mr. Bergen is a Lifetime Community Stakeholder of the Association.  He is a member of the Association’s Resource Development & Alumni Affairs Committee.  Mr. Bergen, now retired, was formerly a Probation officer with the Alexandria Probation & Parole Office.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Bergen  holds a Master’s degree from Ball State University.

 

TRUSTEE - RICHARD BELLE ISLE, Certified Public Accountant.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Mr. BelleIsle is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association.  He is a consultant to the Association’s Budget & Personnel Policy Committee. Mr. BelleIsle is Certified Public Account.  A resident of Marshall, Virginia, Mr. BelleIsle holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.

 

TRUSTEE - GEORGE FARAH, Attorney, Cohen Milstein Hansfeld & Toll.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Mr. Farah is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association. He is a member of the Community Outreach & Public Advocacy Committee.  Mr. Farah is an Attorney with Cohen Milstein Hansfeld & Toll.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Farah holds a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

 

 TRUSTEE - MARY CATHERINE GIBBS, Partner, Hart, Calley, Gibbs & Karp, P.C.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2003. Ms. Gibbs is a member of the Alexandria Commission on Women and Kiwanis Club.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Gibbs has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Richmond.

 

TRUSTEE - HARRY "BUD" HART, Partner, Hart, Calley, Gibbs & Karp, P.C.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1986. Mr. Hart is a former Chair of the Board of Trustees.  Mr. Hart is a former President of the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria and, for 25 years, the former chairman of the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center. A resident of Alexandria, Mr. Hart is holds a J.D. degree from Georgetown University.  He is a Life Member of the Association.

 

TRUSTEE - DAVID GOMPERT, Senior Fellow, RAND Corporation.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee Since 2006.  Mr. Gompert served as Co-Chair of the 2005 Heart of the Community Award and is a member of Family Assistance Programs Committee.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Gompert holds a Master's degree from Princeton University.

 

TRUSTEE - VALERIA S. HENDERSON, Alumna.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1985.  Ms. Henderson is a former Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees.  Ms. Henderson taught in the Alexandria City Public Schools for 29 years before retiring in 1992.  She is Daughter Ruler of Israel Temple IBPOEW, a former Trustee of the Shiloh Baptist Church and a Hopkins House alumna.  A resident of Alexandria, Ms. Henderson holds a Master's degree from Virginia State University. She is a Life Member of the Association. 

 

TRUSTEE - ROBERT HICKS, Teacher, Alexandria City Public Schools.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1999. Mr. Hicks is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, the National Education Association, the National Education Association, the Virginia Education Association, and the Men’s Club of Roberts Memorial United Methodist Church.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Hicks holds a M.A. degree from Virginia State University.

 

TRUSTEE - CLARENCE A. JOHNSON, Retired.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1973.  Mr. Johnson is a former Chair and former Secretary/Treasurer of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Johnson is a retired engineer/comptroller with Night Vision Laboratory.  He is Treasurer of the Virginia State NAACP and the Alexandria Chapter, and a trustee at Shiloh Baptist Church.  A resident of Fairfax County, Mr. Johnson holds a Master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a Life Member of the Association. 
 

TRUSTEE - BERNICE LEE, Alumna.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 1997.  She is a member of the Alexandria Lyceum Board.   She is also the daughter of Helen Day, a Hopkins House founder.  Ms. Lee is an alumna of Hopkins House.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Lee holds a Bachelor's degree from Fisk University.

 

TRUSTEE - GREGORY H. LEISCH, President/CEO, Delta Associates.
(Class of 2009)
Hopkins House Trustee since 1996.  Mr. Leisch is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association and serves on the “Faculty Committee” of the Family Education Program Department’s Entrepreneurship Project.  Mr. Leisch is President/CEO of Delta Associates, Inc.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Leisch holds a Master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

 

TRUSTEE - AMY LIU, Deputy Director, Brookings Institution.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. Liu is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association.  She is a member of the Association’s Assessment & Strategic Planning Committee.  She is Deputy Director of the Brookings Institution. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Liu holds a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.

 

TRUSTEE - AMY L. MADDOX, Producer, Cortina Productions.

(Class of 2009) has been a Hopkins House Trustee since 2001.  Ms. Maddox is a Lifetime Community Stakeholder of the Association and is Vice Chair of the Association’s Community Outreach & Public Advocacy Committee.  Ms. Maddox is a Producer for Cortina Productions. A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Maddox holds a Bachelor’s degree from American University.

 

TRUSTEE - BLANCHE D. MANESS, Vice Chair,  Alexandria City Public Schools Board.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. Maness is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association.  Now retired, she is a former elementary school principal and currently Vice Chair of the board of the Alexandria City Public Schools.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Maness holds a Master’s degree from the University of North Colorado.

 

TRUSTEE - LINDA MARTIN, Senior Vice President of Virginia Commerce Bank. 

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. Martin is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association. She is a member of the Association’s Resource Development & Alumni Affairs Committee.  Ms. Martin is a Senior Vice President of Virginia Commerce Bank.  A resident of Fairfax County, Virginia, Ms. Martin holds a Bachelor’s degree from George Mason University.

 

TRUSTEE - JULIETTE MCNEIL, Retired.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. McNeil is a Lifetime Community Stakeholder of the Association. She is a member of the Association’s Budget & Personnel Policy Committee.  Ms. McNeil, now retired, is a former Director at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. McNeil holds a Bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University.

 

TRUSTEE - JUNE MONTERIO, Retired.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. Monterio is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association. She is a member of the Association’s Community Outreach & Public Advocacy Committee.  Ms. Monterio, now retired, is a former  Principal of the Alexandria City Public Schools.  A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Ms. Monterio holds a Master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.

 

TRUSTEE - ALVIN E. NASHMAN, Retired.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2004. Dr. Nashman is a member of the Inova Foundation and a participant at the Carnegie Institution of Washington.  A resident of Falls Church, Virginia, Dr. Nashman  holds a Doctoral degree from Pacific University.  He chairs the Association's Capital Campaign Leadership Committee.

 

TRUSTEE - LEE QUILL, Founding Principal, Cunningham + Quill Architects.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2006. Mr. Quill serves on the Association's Community Outreach & Public Education Committee.   A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Mr. Quill holds a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

 

TRUSTEE - NOEL A. SHEPHERD, President/CEO, CFA Mortgage, Inc.
(Class of 2008) Hopkins House Trustee since 2000.  He is a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and former member of the board of Building Futures, Inc.  A resident of Fairfax County, Virginia, Mr. Shepherd attended the University of the District of Columbia.

 

TRUSTEE - DEBORAH SCHOEMER, Registered Nurse, Alexandria City Public Schools.

(Class of 2009) Hopkins House Trustee since 2007. Ms. Schoemer is a Voting Community Stakeholder of the Association.  She is a member of the Association’s Community Outreach & Public Advocacy Committee.  Ms. Schoemer is a Registered Nurse for the Alexandria City Public Schools.  A resident of Lorton, Virginia, Ms. Schoemer holds a Master’s degree from Cambridge College.

Mr. Hopkins joined the staff in 1991. He has a Masters degree and is certified in CPR and first aid. Mr. Hopkins has over 20 years of education and non-profit management experience.   He is a resident of Virginia.

DIRECTOR - LAURA BEACH
General Services Office
Ms. Beach joined the staff in 2006. She has a Bachelor's degree from American University.  Ms. Beach is a resident of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Barnhardt joined the Hopkins House staff in 2006.  He has a Bachelor's degree from Livingstone College and over 11 years of professional childcare experience, and is certified in CPR and first aid.  Mr. Barnhardt is a resident of the District of Columbia.

 

TEACHER – JESSICA PONTON

Ms. Ponton joined the Hopkins House staff in 2007.  She has a Master's degree from James Madison University and has over 1 year of professional teaching experience.  Ms. Ponton is a resident of Virginia.

Ms. Holmes joined the Hopkins House staff in 2004.  She has a CDA and is currently studying for your Associate's degree.  She certified in CPR and first aid, and has over eighteen years of professional childcare experience.  Ms. Holmes is a resident of the District of Columbia.

Mr. Jones joined the staff in 2006.  He has a CDA and is currently studying for an A.A. degree.  Certified in CPR and first aid, Mr. Jones has over seven years of professional child care experience.  Mr. Jones is a resident of Virginia.

Ms. Band joined the Hopkins House staff in 2007.  She has a Bachelor's degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  Ms. Bang is a resident of Virginia.

Ms. Just-Buddy joined the staff in 2001. She has a CDA and is currently studying for her Associate's. She is certified in CPR and first aid, and has over six years of professional child care experience.  Ms. Just-Buddy is a resident of Maryland.

Ms. Hamilton joined the staff in 2007.  Currently studying at the Northern Virginia Community College, and certified in CPR and first aid, she has over 13 years of professional child care experience.  Ms. Hamilton is a resident of Virginia.

Ms. Turner-Menson joined the Hopkins House staff in 2007.  She has an Associate's degree from Strayer University and has over 5 years of professional teaching experience.  Ms. Turner-Menson is a resident of Virginia.

Ms. Allison joined the staff in 2004.  She holds a Master's degree from the University of the District of Columbia.  She has previously worked as an early childhood accreditation consultant, a Literacy Expert , and a trainer. She has over twenty years of professional childcare experience.  Ms. Allison is a resident of Maryland.

Family Education Programs Department
Mr. Walker joined the staff in 2006. He has a B.A. degree from Morgan State University, is married and the father of three children.  He lives with his family in Maryland.

 

COUNSELOR - KIM M. BLASSINGAME
Family Education Programs Department
Ms. Blassingame joined the staff in 2001. She has a high school diploma and studied accounting at the Department of Agriculture's Continuing Education Program. Ms. Blassingame has over four years of not-for-profit experience and is certified in CPR, first aid and food handling.  Ms. Blassingame is a resident of the District of Columbia.
